I'm looking for an upgrade on my computer's crappy integrated audio.


My setup right now is Integrated audio -> sansui amp -> some nice big sony speakers

I'll also use this setup for SRH-840 headphones.

Should I get an E7, to use the DAC portion, or should I just get the ASUS Xonar DX as a dedicated sound card? Which of this options will bring better sound quality?

If you're not looking for multichannel (5.1 or 7.1) output, I'd go with the E7. The DX isn't a bad sound card at all, but I think the E7 will offer better quality, albeit only stereo.
