I really had my Eyes set on the Asus X800 XT for my next Video card purchase. But After reading around I found out that it only Supports OpenGL 1.5. Thats gay. Any other Recommendations on Which X800 XT to get???

umm... if the asus one only supports 1.5, im guessing, since thats in hardware and asus isnt going to be making a change that big to the hardware(the core!) that ALL x800xt's will be oGL 1.5... am i wrong?

All the other x800 XT's ive seen support OpenGL 2.0

Of course you do know that you DON'T need extra hardware to support OGL2. It's not like DX9. I'd bet good money that the Asus supports it, it's just OGL2 was ratified a week ago, so that PR is a bit old.

Well even on the Asus Website it says it only Supports OpenGL 1.5 and i need an X800XT really quick cause this Nvidia 5500 OC is pissing me off.

all the cores on every x800 series card are the same, ATI makes them, and sells them to the add-in-board partners

they all support the same level of OpenGL, which is exposed via the drivers

Not to derail the topic but if you are looking for excellent OpenGL support you are looking at the wrong brand videocard. However there is no reason the ASUS wouldn't support 2.0, probably just what they printed on their box.

well, now that that is taken care of Where is a place that i can purchase an X800 XT period lol. I most Likely will get a Giga-Byte one, any Complaints about Giga-Byte?

Yeah, that they're producing X800 video cards.

For OpenGL, I highly suggest you look into what I suggested above, a 6800nu/6800GT

you'll get much more performance in DirectX and OpenGl

Dang they don't have any in right now and i kinda need a better card then 5500 OC for Doom 3

OK one more Question, What about just buying a Regular BBATI X800 XT. Any Downfall doing that?

Trying to find one will be the difficulty with getting any x800xt. ATI is having difficulties manufacturing them.

well technically, as no one has released drivers since OGL 2.0 ratification, no one can, much less does, support OGL 2.0, but all hardware nv30/r300 up should fully support OGL 2.0 once proper drivers are released. ATM 1.5 is the highest supported by any company in drivers.

I had my eyes set on the Asus X800XT card also. I was waiting and waiting and waiting and finally set fuk it. Bought the Asus 6800 Ultra last night on Newegg. HL2 is way too close to gamble on X800XT's beeing available. Wanted to stay with ATI, but oh well. Now I have to uninstall ATI software and Im feeling lazy this week.
