Asus vw246h, need help calibrating

I just got the Asus vw246h today and have been messing with the display settings trying to optimize them. Comparing it to my alienware aw2210, which looks great, the colors seem way off. The colors seem a bit washed out, skin tones have a yellow tint, and some whites seems to have a hint of blue. The brightness is way high as well, but that is the easiest thing to fix. Can anyone with experience with this monitor post their settings for everything? Or perhaps enlighten me as to how I can calibrate this to the max potential via software etc. I have catalyst control center for the 5870, I know that color settings can be changed there, but I have no experience with this and am not sure I should mess with that over the monitor's settings. The few settings I have been able to find on the net so far was of no avail.

No one knows of any free or cheap software for display color calibration at least that works? :( I have tried Calibrize and it's absolute garbage.
