I recently bought a LG W2252TQ from Best Buy. It was a compulsive buy because I needed a new monitor right away (my previous one died). And I just saw that newegg has the Asus VH226H for $199. It's a 21.5" 1920x1080 monitor so specs wise it seems to beat mine but do you guys know anything else about this monitor? Should I return the LG and get the Asus? I paid $259 for the LG so this switch would save me $50.

To me the VH226H is not better specs-wise. 1920x1080 on a 22" screen would make the text very small and hard-to-read.

Well yes, if you're too dumb to enlarge the font.

Yep, enlarge the font and the icons and web page images are either enlarged to a fuzzy mess or no longer appropriately sized in regards to the text. Or you can set the resolution to a non-native resolution and enlarge everything to a fuzzy mess.

Either way, you should know your facts before you demonstrate your stupidity to the world via forum posts.

How would enlarging the text size in your browser have any effect on images? Enlighten me.

If you enlarge the font and the images stay the same size, then the layout will be off. In addition, some web sites used text rendered as images for things like menus. Those will not enlarge.

There are also browsers (Opera) that enlarge both the text and the images to maintain the layout, but that creates fuzzy images.

If you use Windows to enlarge the fonts, then icons all over the place (most notably in the tray and dialog boxes) will be slightly enlarged making them look very ugly.

Hey all, I just found out I'm getting this monitor as a gift and was wondering if anyone else has it? I plan on using it for my PC and PS3, as well as 360 when I break down and buy one. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it so I know what I'm getting into.

Text isn't too small for me at 1080p (on my dell 22") at all with the monitor 1.5 - 2' away from my eyes. I do resize my fonts per application (browser, chat, and 3rd party file manager for example) but not in windows. Enlarging fonts is no problem with firefox. There is a good addon I use called accessibar that lets you do colors (white is pretty harsh on lcd's in dim lighting), fonts etc on the fly with simple clicks on toolbar. Or you can use Firefox's ctr+ + ctr- - for zoom. There is a checkbox in firefox's "View" heading for "zoom text only". If you are only zooming a few clicks it shouldn't mess with website layout much in regards to photos especially if the site is coded properly with % height and % width. :)

I'm considering getting this monitor but its jumped in price to $210 at egg and newegg's lcd/pixel policy seems like a bit of a crap shoot.

Just got this monitor for Christmas and I'm decently pleased. Its really not all that much bigger then my 19" 16:10, which I kind of knew already but still. The 1080p works great, can't wait to get a Blu-Ray movie on it though my PS3. The in-monitor speakers work fine for PS3 gaming, should be fine for casual movie watching. Its got backlight bleeding on the top and bottom which is pretty noticable on a black screen but not so much under general usage.

The colors came a little off and I'm not sure how to set it "correctly", the colors on my Hanns-G HW19D look better and I never had to mess with it. I screwed around with it a little and fixed it mostly but it still isn't perfect.

Yeah, the text is fine, I'm using it right now and have no issues reading anything. The text would only be a problem to people who are used to 800x600 :p

Hello. I bought this monitor but I'm having an issue. When I try playing games at 1280x720 and 1366x768 I get black bars all around the picture (720p) or on top&bottom (13x7). I didn't use to get bars at 13x7 but one day, for no apparent reason, they were there. I haven't changed the cable (DVI).

My GPU is ATI x1950 and my OS is XP Pro 32-bit. And help would be greatly appreciated.
