Ok, so a friend of mine is building a new computer. Well, I'm actually building it for him. However, I came across an odd button on the Asus Vento 3600 case. The button is located where the side panel comes off. Attached to this button is a wire with the word "Clock" written on the header (looks just like a motherboard header...i.e. HDD, Power LED, Reset SW, Power SW). Below is a picture for reference. Do you guys have any idea what this is for?

As the picture says, both Asus's website and the book don't mention this at all. I was just curious as to what its function is. Thanks.

it may be one of those things that tell when the case is open or closed..... my best guess is if you power up with that in the right pins on your mobo, it'll report that the case is open...... but that's just a guess....

i would bet that it is the open case switch. as for the clock header, i have no clue on that one and why it would be connected to that.

I was gonna say a lot of mobos have jumpers that you can switch to change the clock speed, but theres only two leads so thats out. Im gonna say its a uber 1337 switch for uber 1337 people to do some uber 1337 thingy mobobberojigger

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too, but glad to see you guys aren't entirely sure either :D. It doesn't matter, I'm never connecting this; I just wanted to know what it was. Thanks for the responses guys!

Lol, I'll be sure to tell my friend he's "Uber 1337" w/ that case :p

maybe its not Clock.. but C Lock... case lock? a switch that says the case is open or something or has been opened.... like the dells we had at school... would always report "case has been opened"

Damn, you're smart. Are you like a genius or something? No, seriously though. Good thinking. I bet that's right.

The Thermaltake Tsunami comes with a switch in the smae place... its designed for lans etc and the swith is wired to a loudspeaker. you set it on and when someone trys to fook off with your 7800 GTX the alarm will bello as soon as the dorr is opened!!!

:D Just a thought :)

Ok, now that makes sense. I never even looked at the wording any different than "Clock." You sir are in fact a genius! :D Just don't let it go to your head too much :p. Thanks for the post!
