Hi guys and sorry for my english. I hope someone with a VE278Q or VK278Q led panel could help me.

I just bought this model and i think i have a problem. Everything works fine but ASCR (ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio) it seems not working.

I select a Splendid mode in menu and go to image options, then turn On ASCR and nothing happens. You can turn On/Off this option and contrast and bright dont seem to change at all.

Is something wrong with the monitor? Please help!

It probably comes into play when displaying darker images or dynamic changing video. Don't worry.

How does it look otherwise? I just picked one up! Only checked it out for a few minutes so far, looks good -- it's actually a gift for my aging father's eyes. This panel has the largest pixels (dot pitch) of them all (aside from low-rez large format panels which start at 32"+), and it's energy-saving LED.

The monitor is just beautifull, i love it. Perhaps a higher resolution is the only thing i want. If you can confirm me the ASCR impact in image i will be very grateful!

Try enabling ASCR and switching between two tabs in your browser. One tab should be white (I like to use Google) and the other should be dark (a page from this forum works well). When you switch between them, you should see the contrast change dynamically. I tried using a Sharp 32" HDTV with dynamic contrast and actually hated this feature, though perhaps other units do it better. To me it was annoying to see the contrast level change because the taskbar would get brighter or dimmer depending on which page I was looking at, but you might like it (and that's assuming that the VE278Q works the same way).

Yeah I agree, the dynamic adjustment is just a gimmicky marketing check-mark in my book for monitors. I turn all that stuff off on my high-end NECs.

Okay I tried the ASCR function on the Asus VE278Q ... nah I can't see any effect either. *shrug* I wouldn't worry about it at all, PikitubY. It's either very subtle, or it's doing the job well and not calling attention to the changes.

This LCD has a very strange feature which cannot be entirely disabled it seems.

Menu -> Image ->Trace Free

This appears to control some sort of built-in de-interlacing for video. However, even at 0 it is noticeable when dragging windows around! (Look at the window borders.) I used this LCD for several days before I noticed this effect. I can't notice it playing games or watching movies. Only while dragging windows around, how odd.
