Intel’s 18 Core Skylake-X Won’t Be Available Until Next Year – 14 & 16 Core Parts To See Delayed Availability

Clickbait be clickbait.

The 18-core CPUs are not scheduled until later this year. Won't have them for a while. Either way, unless you're using the rig for rendering or encoding to make a living, no need.

Have intel, and I am seriously considering this in the future. But boy is intel going crazy tight now. Linus has a really really good video. I never really watch his channel but He has a really good informative and thoughtful video on intel x299. He thinks intel is not ready for threadripper and they are really trying hard to compete but somehow still are very afraid of hurting their XEON line.

Keys to unlock fucking NVME raid features? Kidding me?

16 lanes on kabylake x processors for what? There is no point of that shit being in x299 lineup its intel somehow trying to justify making few extra bucks. Linus said board makers are pretty pissed of about it as well. About intel's refusal to accept it and competing in half ass way.

and now looks like the news about 14 and 16 core parts not being available until late this year and 18 core part was just announced to say we will have 2 more cores but now thats in 2018 lol.

Intel was not ready and looks like threadripper is about to rip a new one for intel. I don't know how AMD kept this so close to chest but we did not hear about threadripper CPUs until what a month after Ryzen launch? Intel sure got caught with its pants down.

That's common for datacenters and workstations for ages.

And remember, its for RAID outside the chipset.

Asus that's quoted never said that. But why let facts get in the way.

So close even the mobo makers aint ready and they had to create a new socket with the same pincount as Naples, but incompatible.

Sure more excuses from u. Just to let you know I dont have a single fuckin AMD part in my system. I call bullshit where its at. Why bring some feature from datacenters to HEDT if you aren't fucking serious about supporting it and you want to nickle and dime the buyer with boards already at 300 or so? Get me? Are these XEONs? no why are you bringing that up then?

Did you watch his video? He never quoted anyone, he said he won't name people and it wasn't just one vendor. It was almost all of them that think intel is making a mess. It's like they thought about competing but then weren't too serious about it. Once again mark my word, come back mid next year and see the playing field change. Intel is still jerking off instead of competing, they sort of kind of adjusted the prices. Sort of kind of have 14, 16, and 18 parts, but wait not until late this year and not until 2018 for the 18 core.

Oh they sort of kind of also have the PCI-e lanes but hey pay us another 500 to unlock those as well! lol

I am having a ball watching the Intel fanbois scamper around trying with all their might to spin this. Seriously it isn't too hard to tell this Intel HEDT release IS a kneejerk reaction. All the added cores have absolutely no info, no TDP no speeds, nothing other than listing core counts, as if they were tacked on.

Whats even more fun is watching them after they said AMDs lineup wouldn't affect Intel at all because Intel was so superior. Now we have a release that looks like it was thrown together the night before.

The only kneejerk are 12C+ models. KBL-X is Intel management being high and the mid-range is just Intel following their old ass schedule.

Well, AMD did not affect Intel line-up because they ran with joke of KBL-X anyway.

I watched Linus' video yesterday.... very thoughtful points of view that even I didn't arrive at yet.

Intel is really screwy on this one for sure.

Licking my lips in anticipation for thread ripper and a pair of top tier Vega cards.

Here is the linus video if one wants to watch. He has been critical of AMD as well but he is spot on about intel. Intel actually seems to not have a grip on this launch. It feels rushed and to save face against threadripper. I truly think just like us intel was in the dark about AMD launching HEDT platform this summer.
