Updated my BIOS a while back to 1305 and overclocked the E6600 from 3.2ish to 3.65. Thought it was a good thing with the BIOS update. Lately, however, I've been having some problems booting up. It only POST'ed ok at first but only thru numberous tries and now, it won't even POST. Downclocked it too and it was even worse. Would not POST. So, I ran it at stock 2.4 and it seemed fine, but it would still freeze up after awhile. Just last night, I was clearing the CMOS to have it boot up because that was the only way and now, it doesn't even want to boot up. I can't even POST. GRRRRR!!!

Anyone think this is either a bad BIOS or it's just something on the board? I know there are rampant bad reports of this board on the net but I'm hoping it is not something major! Had this board since Nov 06 and only updated the BIOS like about a month ago. Always held off on the BIOS update because of some people not being able to POST after updating. Didn't want to take a chance so I held off. I'm not liking the Nvidia 680i chipset. I was using the P5WDH deluxe previously, but I only had it for a few weeks for I could not for the life of me run my Raptors in RAID. I tried 2 other motherboards and they had the same issue. I wasted like 3 hours at the computer store trying to figure this out and I said the heck with it!! So, I went and splurged on the Striker Extreme. Think I should have went for the eVGA board instead considering now that there is that upgrade option to the 780. Then again, I think the intel chipsets work better with an intel processor. Never seem to have any issues. Next board I'm going back to an Intel chipset!

Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks!!

I would suggest PMing a mod, asking to move this thread to the Motherboards forum.

Mark.

I thought about this. I'm thinking this maybe or may NOT be a motherboard issue. My whole computer is affected and I cannot boot into windows. So, I have no idea where to go let alone where to post this.

Thank you!

Maybe you should try and go back the other bios again. Im sure there are other people that have used the new bios and hits probably a hit or miss situation about whether it works or not. Asus may not be able to help but it's worth trying to call and see.

Otherwise try stripping down your parts to just vid, cpu, and ram. To see if there is anything else that is faulty.

Do as suggested above. Also check memory with memtest once you can post again.

Good call. Process of elimination. So, how do I go about checking just the vid card, cpu, or ram?

Tried turning the computer on again after 2 days. Computer turns on, but freezes after windows loads up after about 10 mins. Reboot. Now, computer doesn't even POST.

Hmmmmmmm.............

I thought that my installation of Windows might have been corrupted when I had my faulty board. But, I had problems anyway, so I sent the board back, and the problems with Windows stopped, and everything was fine. So, it could very well be the motherboard, try process of elimination with all the other parts first, and RMA the board if you feel you want to.
