Asus Smart Doctor software question?

I am wondering if I OC my card using the asus Smart Doctor. Do I need to keep the program running in the background to have my card running as the OC setting?
If I uninstall the software or kill the process, will the OC setting still be there, or it will go back to factory default settings?
