2 questions:

1. If I am running a single videocard on this board (7800 GT), do i have to plug a power cable into the EZ-plug? Should I? Or is EZ Plug only used if running 2 cards?

2. I have an Antec TruPower 480W power supply with a 20 pin power connector. This board requires a 24 pin. Will I be OK if I buy and 20-24 pin adapter and use that? Or do I NEED a new power supply?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

1 - Should run without, but you have a very powerful card there, so I would plug it in anyways.

2- You shouldn't need to buy a convertor. I am running my A8N-SLI Deluxe here with a standard 20 pin plugged into the 24 pin socket (no convertor) - the plug is keyed so it will still fit. If you decide to go SLI you will need to go with a dedicated 24pin supply for optimum stability.

If you read the manual, it states that if you are using two video cards, and if you have a 20-pin ATX power supply, you should plug a Molex lead from your power supply into the EZ Plug for "stable power." Since the extra four pins in the ATX 2.0.x design are there to send extra power to the PCI-E slots, it might be assumed that the EZ Plug could take it's place if you don't have an updated power supply and/or if your card doesn't have a plug for an external source of power.

The TrueBlue 480 should cut it for powering your 7800 GT (assuming that you're not powering a high end X2 or an FX CPU and a truckload of drives), but I would still be a little wary as to whether or not the PCI-E slot is getting enough power thrown in it's direction. Make sure your video card is plugged in using the included Molex to PCI-E adapter, and try gaming without EZ Plug (hi-res/hi-quality should stress it enough to get results). If you get random restarts or locking, or if your not feeling bold enough to follow my first suggestion, plug in EZ plug and see if that solves your problem. I wouldn't think you'd have to go looking for a new power supply or any adapters until you find it necessary to run two 7800 GT's.
