So I picked up an Asus Dual-rx580-o4g. I got it used for only $100.00, the seller mentioned he had modded the memory timing straps for mining... Long story short I did a Nicehash Legacy run on it, blockchain drivers. and it did about 23 MH/s with abound 235 watts at th wall... (measured from a kill-a-watt meter)

I usually text it on an test rig before I install in in my mining rig.

System is as follows:

i3 550, stock clocks, 64gb ssd, 8GB ram. Windows 10 Pro, setup on a riser for ease of access, 85% PSU

Long story short it also runs hot...

I was able to lower the core volts to -150 mV (not sure what stock is) and lower the core from 1360 down to 1150, raised the ram (Elipida) to 2050 MHz, this yielded about 26.5 MH/s with still a total of 189 watts pulled at the wall. If I allow about 51 watts for the system itself we are still talking about 117.5 watts pulled just for the GPU itself....

No I know what you are going to say..."it's crap ram Eric"... but I have the same ram on my Sapphire rx580 Nitro +, it runs just under 90 watts @ 1150/2050, and gets a solid 30.795 MH/s and runs under 62C in a hot room...

My guess so far is that the Previous Owner loosened the memory timings way too much... BUT I do not have a stock bios to compare with

Well I think I got her under control...

I did a comparison to the bios I built for my Sapphire RX580 Nitro + and built one around the timings I used on that...

Results are great 172 watts at the wall (or about 103 watts pulled at the card). Maybe a little less... but a solid 30.488 MH/s. And it won’t even break 60c. Not bad at all for a $100.00 and an hour or so of work
