Hi, I just bought a bunch of new components for my system, wired everything up but now it won't boot! I've double checked and triple checked my connections and everything seems to be in order. Green SB_PWR LED is on, but nothing else. No beeps.

I've checked the CPU, no bent pins. 24-pin and 8-pin power connectors are in. Resetting CMOS and jumper don't do anything. RAM inserted properly, no RAM LED. System won't boot with RAM in any slot, any configuration. Front panel connectors in properly. All fans connected to motherboard. Video/sound card connected. Won't boot even with these removed. PSU is good as I just ripped it from my old setup the same day.

I've heard of a lot of people having similar issues with this board and/or RAM, maybe its DOA? I also read a BIOS flash might work, should I try that?

Specs:
Asus P8Z77-V Pro
Intel i5 3570K
AMD Radeon HD7950
Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB
Samsung 840 120GB SSD
Creative Sound Blaster
OCZ 750W Fatality PSU

When you press the power button does anything happen - fans spin up?

3570K was supported from build 0801, which was the first release build, so should not need to flash.

Try using the onboard display output- remove the GPU from the board and connect DVI to your monitor.

Says you have inserted DRAM properly, so that should be okay. Sometimes folks get caught out by the EZ latches on the slots, don't click the modules in on both side and think the board is DOA but that should not be the case for you.

The power supply seems like it wants to start up, the fan starts to spin for half a second and then stops. I'll try connecting the DVI and see what happens.

Make sure you take out the GPU obviously.

Might be worth setting the board up on a non conductive surface as well. Use just one memory module and just a keyboard.

I had the exact same problem some months ago and the psu was the culprit. system booted for half a second and then stopped. check the psu first with the paper clip test.

Just out of curiosity, why would the system boot using the onboard graphics vs a dedicated card?

The PSU is good as I'm using it right now in my old system, Unless the 8-pin connector is somehow defective.

Update: I managed to get the system to boot after changing the DVI connection, but now I get the error "setup.exe is not a valid win32 application" when trying to install drivers from the mobo CD. What does this mean?

I have 64-bit windows. Ended up downloading all the drivers from the Asus website and now everything is running smoothly. Thanks for all the help!
