Working on my brother's machine, he got a 2500k and Asus P8P67 last night. He reused his Corsair H70 with scythe fans.

It will boot as high as 55x multiplier, with everything on auto, but auto voltage is way too high, 1.6xx

I currently have it at 50x multiplier, with vcore voltage set to "Manual" in bios, with a value of 1.45. This configuration will run Linpack for 20 minutes (have not tried longer yet). One core gets to 77 C during that time, which I am not worried about.

Is there any chance I could lower the vcore more by playing with the LLC, Phase Control, Duty Control, etc? On the other 2500s I have done, I have not messed with these, but this one went so fast so quick that I think it is worth a try.

Anyone at 5ghz or above have settings they recommend? I read the P8P67 guide, but I am not sure what version of the bios that addresses, as the recommended settings resulted in BSODs compared to all on auto.

No one else with an i5 on this board?

Everything I touch seems to produce BSODs....not as fun to tweak as an AM3

holy crap. I read that 1.4 vcore was pushing it. No way I'd set it to 1.45v.

Just finished an hour of linpack, was able to turn vcore down to 1.425 with LLC/Phase/Duty all set to Extreme.

An IT guy I worked with has been at 5ghz @ 1.475 with regular benching almost since launch, so not too worried...

Can you please post all of your bios settings and temps under load? I am in a very similar configuration and feel I am close to being stable but not quite there..

John

Well, I am stable, but with an H50 my prime temps are 81C after 30 minutes. I have a push/pull setup and I think that is too high.

trying to figure out why the temps are so high (cooler issue?) or if there is a setting I have that is increasing the temps beyond the voltage.. I am at 4.7ghz with voltage at 1.36v under load.

81C just seems high for the setup and the voltage.

Jrhea even though I got the vcore lower with using LLC and other settings, I think my best setup was just at 1.45v manual vcore with everything else on AUTO.

messing with vrm and LLC and the other settings drove temps way up just to get a slightly lower idle vcore, then it would hit 1.45 under load anyway.

81c is very high for prime. Is the heatsink tight? Also is that a 2600? I think they run quite a bit hotter with HT

Bit Warm but you will never see that in Real world use anyways. My 2600K runs 80C full load after about 4 hours of Prime. It never even hits the 70s with everything I do daily including Video encoding etc. Long as you keep it under 85C when stress testing you should be good. I am guessing those temps are about right for an H50.
