I just bought a brand new setup (see sig), the only things I'm bringing over from my old build are my case and PSU, and Videocard and Sound Card.

The only difference with my PSU is since it's modular I removed the 4 Pin connector from the PSU and added the 8 pin and plugged that into the motherboard instead of the old 4 pin.

Okay So for some strange reason I can't get the Geil memory to run at 1066 and any oc to the proc causes a hard lock forcing me to reset the bios. I have the latest bios 1302 thinking that will fix the issue but still no go. My CPU temp is around 32c-38c on air (fantastic cooling) Motherboard is around 42c.

I can't understand why I can't overclock anything. I'm hoping there is a P5N32-E SLi expert out there who can throw some solid advise my way.

Here's hoping

I have the same board. I can't fuckin' run my Buffalo Firestix RAM at anything faster than 667Mhz. It was working just before, now it can't POST at all if I up the fsb on the RAM. Fuck this board.

Edit: I have a P5ne sli, not the P5n32. Anyways, the board used to run at 800Mhz FSB on the ram, then just stopped working. I've tried 3 different BIOS versions too, nothing helps. Really dissapointed.

Geil told me that my Power supply is to blame. My 12v rail is showing up as 11.71 under load, they believe that is the limiting factor as to why my ram can't run at 1066. They said my whole setup is very power hungry, which is true but I dunno if I blame the PSU. I've noticed alot of reviews on the egg saying they can't get it to run at 1066 and others who just left it at 800 cause they didn't want to bother. What is an awesome PSU to try. If i'm gonna upgrade the one I have I want something amazing like a 850 watt or a 1kw.

All I know is this better fix it or I'm gonna be pissed, cause power supplies aint cheap.

It wasn't the PSU, I just got and installed a BFG 800Watt Powr Supp and no dice, I'm RMAing the mobo and returning the RMA, I might have a dud motherboard and the ram has been more trouble than it's worth, I'm getting 4GB Kingston now, which is on the QVL for the motherboard. Wish me luck. ;)

Thats my luck man, I buy the board that everyone raves about, and I end up w/ bum parts.

Well I have extensive experience with the Striker Extreme and P5N32-E SLI Deluxe. I've got to tell you a few things first off.

One, the version of the BIOS effects this board greatly. Look for the best versions. For the Striker that would be 1301 or 1303. 1305 blows goats. I'm not sure what the right version is for the P5N32-E SLI Deluxe. In any case these boards don't like to run memory over 1,000MHz with most modules. Doing so is a pain in the ass. Your power supply is not likely the culprit but ASUS boards do have pretty bad vdroop so the voltages you set are not the voltages you are actually getting. I'd advise doing the pencil mod or learning to calculate your boards' specific vdroop and compensating for it. I can tell you that this board is very sensitive to memory so keeping your RAM at around 800MHz makes things easy. Once you settle on that the overclocking can begin.

Here are some recommended settings for the Striker Extreme that will apply to your board as well. There is a thread that covers BIOS settings for these boards in detail over at Xtremesystems Forums. That is where I turned for some of my overclocking woes.

Gives those a shot. I'll caution you that some Striker's and P5N32-E SLI Deluxe boards do not like that much voltage. Mine being one of them. I actually get better results toning the voltage down slightly. Some others like the second board Kyle tested in our Striker Revisted article liked more voltage than mine did. Also you need to manually adjust the voltages and timings for your memory based on the manufacturers recommended timings and not those listed above.

Here is the thread over at Xtremesystems: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=159457&highlight=striker

Here is some information on OCZ's website concerning the P5N32-E SLI Deluxe and Striker Extreme: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29652

These things are a bitch to tune and to overclock. Good luck.

Thanks Dan D :D That is exactly what I was looking for. I'll give some of this a shot and report back.

No Dice, the system was unstable after trying this. I dont believe it is because of the tweaks, I just think it's a dud motherboard. It's RMA is already in progress. I'll try this with the new one I get. I'll update the thread afterwards. This motherboard is popular and the tweaks mentioned could be helpful to others. ;)

I did my RMA and got back a new motherboard, unfortunately (but possibly) fortunately Newegg didn't have any Asus P5N32-e SLI boards left. I ended up geting a Abit IN9 32X Max motherboard. My voltages are now stable, so my theory is that the previous motherboard had voltage regulator problems.

This time instead of the Geil I got Kingston PC 8500 1GB x 4 and I still can't run this memory at 1066, I can run any 2 at 1066 but once I put in 4 chips no dice. I've tried many voltage adjustment combinations but it just wont go. I've tried calling kingston (useless) and abit (hard to get a tech but worth it) and still no dice.

Anyway long story short my quest to get 4GB running at 1066 continues and I'm beginning to lose all hope. Is this possible on this motherboard? If you have it what are your settings, do I need fans for the nb and sb to get it worked out?

Help a brotha out!! :D
