For some reason I cant put my g.skill ram in the same color slots...

I read the manual and it said, for duel channel there required to be in the same color slot and that a1+a2=b1+b2, so now I have to stick 1 in the a1 slot and another in the b2 slot, if I don't then my computer wont even boot up, it just freezes. (a1 and b1 are yellow, other two are black, color slots)

When I put one in a1 and the other in b2 it boots up and is normal for a little bit but then freezes in the middle of my work. Sometimes ill be playing wow and it freezes, or ill be surfing the web and it freezes. Really ticking me off...

Do you think I should get new ram or is it a motherboard problem..

Comp specs are:
e6400
7900gt ko
2gb (1x1gb) G.skill
asus p5n-e sli
coarsair psu 520w
wd caviar se 160gb

Yes, run memtest and try increasing the voltage to your memory. The p5n-e sli likes 5-5-5-15 and 4-4-4-12 timings, in particular.

Also if you don't have the newest BIOS, give that a shot. Do NOT flash inside of windows. Use a flash key or burn a CD.

great.. while running memtest my computer just restarts within the first minute..

how can I change the voltage?

In the BIOS.

No offense meant, but if you don't know that, you really shouldn't be building your own computer. When you build your own, you're your own tech support.

Changed the timing and everything still wouldn't get it to work without it crashing or restarting on me...

I did get 30 errors on 1 stick of my ram while the other didn't get any errors, do you think I should go ahead and RMA these for some coarsair xms?

ALSO: played WoW for about 30-45mins and didnt get one freeze or restart, I only have in the 1 stick that had no errors in the b2 slot (2nd black slot farthest from the CPU)

You may have one stick that is slightly inferior to the other but you really need to get into bios and change the vdimm to at least 2.2v then run memtest again and see if the 30 errors go away on that one stick. If they both work at the stated timings, speed and voltage then RMA'ing the sticks may or may nbot solve your dilemma. If GSkill claims those modules will boot at 1.8vdimm and run 4-4-4-12 DDR2-800 then they should. However, I doubt they will run those speeds/timings at 1.8vdimm which is the default of the board. What is the model number on the GSkills?

Commom scence dude..1 stick =no errors and the other stick 30 errors=bad stick.Have to rma both since they are a matched set for dual channel.
You really need to do alot more reading about how these computers work...basics
