Hi all,
I have just assembled my new computer. It's the first time I did such a thing.

Everything went well but some small issues are remaining.
1. I am using speedfan to monitor temperatures. All are normal except AUX. The AUX gives me a constant reading of 119°C. I am not sure to what device AUX is referring to.
Can somebody give me some advice on this?
Of course, I can always ignore as there is no smoke coming out of my computer (as there should be with such a high temperature).

2. The computer is also starting very very slowly compared to the past (I am using my old HD). After being booted, speed turns to normal. I have already defragmented my C: drive but it didn't help (or not a lot).
I would hate to format and re-implement all the software. I would really really avoid this. But it is frustrating to see that booting takes much longer while the system should be 100 times more quicker than my old computer (which, unfortunately, I blew up :( )

Thanks for your answers already

First off I think you should ignore the AUX temp as sometimes I've gotten erronious temp readings. Actually now that I think about it, it sounds like speed fan is reading from a sensor improperly so either find a way to reconfigure speed fan to give the right reading or just ignore it.

Second I think your HDD is dying, it is very common for drives to cause very slow OS bootups when they're dying. Remember, times to go from the OS load screen to getting on the desktop is what I'm talking about, not the load times from first turning on the machine through your motherboard manufacturer's logo and diagnostic screen..

What you could do is get another HDD and image the current HDD to the new one, that way you shouldn't have to replace anything, this is assuming that the dying drive isn't starting to create bad data on the drive.

As to the fan thing: you are probably right. I think I am just going to ignore this reading. I was afraid leaving my computer on causing fire...

The HDD dying is more worrying. Indeed, OS load screen => MS welcome screen and desktop: FAST

At the moment Desktop comes up, everything (programs in startup folder) slows down: loading the anitvirus, firewall, network connection, icm, speedfan... Then, everything gets to normal.

SMART analysis should only one issue: HDD has been powered on for more hours than other HDDs with the same time of life.

Could this be it?

When I ready SMART, the only t

Just to let you know. Old HD is loading up as new. I don't know what made it so fast for it is running okay now.

I have installed a second HD. At start up I can choose which HD to boot via this tool www.osloader.com and it is working perfectly!!
