I've been following the scene passively for a number of years. The last system I overclocked was a K6-2 500mhz machine to 550mhz, a lot has changed since then.

Well I just picked up an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro HS/F. So far it seems like a good cooler for the price and made a huge difference over stock cooling. When Overclocked to 3.4Ghz, running Prime 95 for ~20-25 minutes the Max CPU temp is reaching 50°C. This is down from ~65°C with the stock cooler. Ambient is steady between 20-22°C. I am hoping to get a bit better OC. I have run Prime 95 over night at this speed and it was stable. Bumping the FSB up to 400mhz, so 3.6Ghz and 800mhz memory speed etc. causes prime95 to error out.

I am using Core Temp 0.95.4 to get CPU temps. Also I'm using Speedfan with the 15°C adjustment which seems to be giving the same temps.

I've seen lots of people saying that these chips are able to reach 4+ Ghz on air. http://forums.techarp.com/reviews-articles/23243-intel-core-2-duo-e6850-overclocking-report.html

I see people running 400+Mhz FSB on this board (including a [H]ard OCP review in fact). Given the [H]ardOCP review was for the deluxe and not premium version but these boards are very similar from everything I have read. http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTM0OSw3LCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA==

I checked out this article which was pretty good.

In order to proceed further, I would like to get this machine stable at 3.6Ghz, which seems quite doable to me. Can I get some input from some of the resident [H]ard Overclocking Gurus?
