Asus P5K/P5E problem

I built my first computer a week ago with a P5K, but I never got it to work due to the monitor showing no signal. So after testing the gpu/monitor and finding out that they are both working I decided to RMA the P5K and bought a P5E instead. Now I got the P5E to work great for a couple of days, other than some cpu temp issues. Today I tried to clean off the cpu/heatsink reapply thermal paste and then reseat the heatsink, but once I put everything back together I started getting the no signal problem with this as well.

All of the power connections seem to fine, and everything turns on, I just get the no signal issue again. Could something have happened to the mobo while I was reseating the heatsink to make it not work?

It seems a little strange to have the same issue in two different models within a 6 day period.

Is it possible the cpu is dead? If so how do I diagnose that (having no other 775 mobo/cpus around to replace it with)?

I tried booting with no ram and it doesn't beep, but when I boot without the gpu I end up getting the beep just as the book prescribed.
 
What is your PSU? It could be a PSU issue. In the past I have had problems getting systems to boot and it always turned out to be the PSU. I have learned that it is worth it to get the best PSU out. It saves so many problems. If you read my sig. you will notice that I went the overkill route, but atleast I know it will handle just about anything I through at it.
