I have the above board and it is now set up BUT can you help with this query.

I set the SATA configuration to the default IDE and not to AHCI having loaded all the programs and data I am considering changing the setting to AHCI.

1. Can I do this without losing data or coursing problems with my hard disks or will I have to reformat and re-install all the data and programs?

2. Is there any real world advantage in making this change?

Any help would be appreciated as I have more than two hundred GB of data alone on these disks (mainly office items)!
