I got a Asus P4C800 E-Deluxe board and I'm trying to get my mobo to recognize my Western Digital 10,000 RPM SATA Hard drive and at the same time, I went to hook up my other hard drives on IDE which are 1) Western Digital 100GIG and 2) Western Digital 160GIG. It doesn't seem to work at all... my SATA hard drive is connected into the SATA1 port.

I ran into your same problem. I went through 6 hours of troubleshooting to no avail. Then I double checked the jumpers on my raptor and it was on "standby" the whole time....

....

So is this how I'm supposed to have it setup?

In the bios...

MAIN >> IDE CONFIGURATION >>ONBOARD IDE OPERATE MODE [ENHANCED]

ENHANCED MODE SUPPORT >> 1) S-ATA 2) P-ATA + S-ATA 3) P-ATA
For the enhanced Mode support shouldn't it be just S-ATA? But what about my other two IDE ATA hard drives?

CONFIG S-ATA AS RAID [NO]

Now under MAIN
It should show the following specs in terms of what the motherboard should see:

-PRIMARY IDE MASTER - [WD 100 GIG HARD DRIVE]
-PRIMARY IDE SLAVE - [WD 160 GIG HARD DRIVE]
-SECONDARY IDE MASTER - [PLEXTOR DVD BURNER]
-THIRD IDE - [WD RAPTOR 10,000 RPM SATA] <=== WINDOWS XP PRO
-FOURTH IDE - [NOT DETECTED]

also under advanced....
ADVANCED >> ONBOARD PROMISE CONTROLLER [DISABLED]
Should this be enabled or disabled?

Does anyone know if it needs drivers prior to a Windows XP install? The one that I bought is an OEM product.
