Asus or Gigabyte?

I take it you're requiring a matx board? Interested in non g965 boards?
 
Of all the motherboards I have owned, Gigabyte has given the highest ratio of success + luck in getting "a good clocker". That said, I have NEVER owned an ASUS. I will probably get one next time just so I can stop saying that.:D
 
I dont know how Gigabyte's Customer service is, but ASUS is the worst. I've gotten two mobo that died on me and it takes 5 weeks to get a RMA...

Disgusting service, I'd get a Gigabyte if their service is good.
 
without considering the actual boards, ASUS as a company sucks like a dyson. their customer service is almost non existant, god help you if you ever need to call and talk to someone, they are a tiawanese company and obviously cant find anyone who actualy speaks english to translate their manuals. their website seems to be hosted off a dialup connection, if its even online. its a crapshoot as to if you will be able to download drivers, theres a 50/50 chance the downloads will timeout. if you ever have a problem, they are just about the worst company to deal with ever.

all this being said the last two boards ive bought have been ASUS simply because they were the only top overclocking boards without spending $300. though the P5W i had was 250 and i was very disappointed with it, it wouldnt post at anything over 400fsb no matter what. and it fried within 6 months. hopefuly this $160 p5b deluxe i just picked up will not be so bad. most people can get 500fsb out of it. i would have gone badaxe2 had it not been 300 bucks.
 
I assume you want embedded graphics????

Obviously if size matters then the Gigabyte DS3 wont do.

I have many ASUS boards and they have never failed me. I really like the DS3 I use too. I dont think you can go wrong with either supplier.

I have to argue with the bad service rap people are laying down. I had a bad Northbridge fan on my A8N-SLI Deluxe, a known problem on the rev 1 boards. I emailed ASUS and they had a new fan out in less than a week, along with detailed pictures describing the differences in the fan supplied and how to install it. I was more than pleased. The rep even emailed me a week later to chech up on the problem. I just started out with ASUS USA from the jump and dealt with all english speaking people that were friendly and courteous.
 
go with Gigabyte. I just bought their high end dq6 and its amazing.

took me 20 minutes to oc at 100% stability. And you can even download off of their site without getting a virus!!... or a timeout. Trying to get anything off of ASSus' website is next to impossible. Do yourself a favour and get a board from Gigabyte.

edit: I've bought over 35 asus boards over the past 10 years for myself and friends, p3v4x, a7v, a7vx etc etc and while there have been 1 or 2 board in there have been good. overall the DOA's and the bios problems and memory issues that I've seen overwhelm the few that have been good. So do yourself a favor.. get something other than ASus...... Ive heard nothing but success stories from owners of DS3's and DQ6's... And nothing but random reset problems and bios corruption issues from Asus owners... Besides the high high end offerings... So... choose wisely!
