I got a corrupt ASUS mobo. Does anybody know where I can find a listing of what the beeps mean when the POST runs? I searched the ASUS website but nothing.

layman/quickguide to beep codes

1-everything is good and all systems go
2,3,4- some kind of memory issue (ram or video card)
make sure everything is seated properly too
5 possible battery issues
5 or more-computer may be on fire and run for the hills
:)

Off hand I don't have a resource. If you can find/borrow one, use a PCI POST reporter and look up the hex value it returns. They don't cost much. In the mean time, can you describe the beep code here? You might get someone who can help you based on the beep code alone.

if you buy a book your a fool. If you really need more detail than what I gave you, do a google search for AMIBIOS beep codes, that simple

Award BIOS Beep Codes:

1 Long Beep: Memory problem

1 Long, then 2 Short Beeps: Video error

1 Long, then 3 Short Beeps: Video error

Continuous Beeping: Memory or video problem

AMI BIOS beep codes:

1 Beep: DRAM refresh failure

2 Beeps: Parity circuit failure

3 Beeps: Base 64K RAM failure

4 Beeps: System timer failure

5 Beeps: Processor failure

6 Beeps: Keyboard controller / gate A20 failure

7 Beeps: Virtual mode exception error

8 Beeps: Display memory read/write failure

9 Beeps: ROM BIOS checksum failure

10 Beeps: CMOS shutdown register read/write error

11 Beeps: Cache memory error

Continuous Beeping: Memory or video problem

The Phoenix BIOS beep codes ( old and new ) are a long list.
I figured I would just post those for a quick help - seeing as how you didn't specify what BIOS you have.

I'm not sure of the BIOS version. It's a computer at work that someone put together. All i know is it's an X-series mobo.

The beep sequence is like this:
1 long beep
2 short beeps
1 high toned beep
1 low toned beep

Based on what you guys said if I ignore the last two beeps it's a video issue.
