Will I be able to run 2 x 290 in crossfire by putting the first card into slot 1 (red) and 2nd card into slot 3 or 4 (red)? Reason I ask is because the manual states that if you run two cards then they must be inserted into slot 1 red, and slot 2B (black)

With the way my watercooling bridge is set up I cannot put a card into slot 2B, there simply isnt an option for that. So I am curious if I will have any issues with my plan? Otherwise I will have to get something like a Maximus Hero VII.

Correct, the manual reads that native 8x/8x is available only when slot 1 and slot B2 are in use.

What do you use for watercooling bridges?

I use BitsPower multilink adapters. You use the adapter and acrylic tubes, which come is any number of lengths to adapt to the slot spacing on the board.

and example of the tubes: http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/bicrlitufor21.html

you just have to carefully measure the distance to order to correct ones.;)
