I ordered one of these for my AM2 build based on a few reviews I read that said it was decent, and good for the money.
After ordering it I read one that said said it overclocked like crap. Uh oh bad sign. So I headed on over to the asus forums to see what the owners said about it. Pretty much the general consensus was that it clocks like crap, hates lots of different kinds of ram, has no ram timing settings, and has HORRIBLE support from Asus. The best bios was 806 or some such and all released after that gimped both cpu and memory performance by a LOT. Some said single channel with old bios > dual channel with newer. I saw no remarks on the latest bios but if they were a godsend im sure somone would have posted about them. I assume they were more of the same?
I'm sure their disgruntled community exaggerates but I didn't see anyone with much good to say about it other than it being stable at stock and okish with old bios and a high end chip that wouldn't be HT limited by it. That and they said the onboard video is good and the sound quality is nice. So I guess it would be ok for a HTPC or other such system if you could buy it, burn a bios flash CD, and flash it to the one good working bios it has (Assuming that bios supports your chip).
Made me sorry I bought it and wanted to warn anyone else thinking of ordering it to be SURE its able to fit the bill for what you want to do with it.
If someone on here has it and im totally wrong about the board please let me know. Im not even planning on opening it when I receive it though. Already ordered an MSI.
I have 0 personal experience with it. Do your own research.
