Hi

I have an Asus G73JH. When i bought the notebook (it is used) the LAN port didn't work. I diassembled the nb and check for the cables, the problem was that the LAN connector was not properly connected. Then i reassemble, then LAN work ok, but now with problem on the display.

The screen is flickering from the half to botton like this

And have yellow marks (in white pixels i see them) like this

When i connect via HDMI the image is clear and no problems, is not the videocard. So i assume that i broke the lcd flex or the lcd display. I don't have spares of these to check where is the problem... any suggestions to the right direction?. This problem was typical from the flex or the lcd display?. In my country is not easy and not cheap to get the replacements... that's why i ask.

Thanks.

Replacements are easy and cheap depending on the machine. I just bought a cable for an Asus EEE 1000HAB for 10 bucks shipped on ebay.

It very well may be the cable and it isnt all that hard to replace.

Very likely to be the cable, might be worth checking it is plugged in correctly to the display and motherboard and see if you can see obvious damage to the cable.

If the insulation is damaged though then it's a good sign (well bad but you get the idea).

Unlikely to see the damage as the cable is wrapped.

I dissaembled the notebook again (with a baby is difficult to find the time ;)), the insulation is break, not a lot, like Meaker says is a sign. I move a little the cover to see the contacts, at first sight, cannot detect broken contacts... i add a picture, but maybe the problem is there. I'll try first to change the cable.

You recommend other site or cable?

Thanks

The cable is fine just make sure the P/N is identical. They sometimes change panels and connections mid way through product life cycles.

I guess.

The Asus I took apart showed no damage until I unwrapped it and found one of the grounds was broken.

Well... problem solved...

It didn't discover the faulty piece, but now i see the image ok. Other people suggested me that i apply pressure on the connection to the motherboard... i was sceptic about that but i tried. If i push in the middle the image is ok... i always connected the cable interfase ok, but it seems that the interfase of the cable, or the connector on the motherboard has some issue. The solution was put a rubber to make a little press with the cable interface on the motherboard when the case is closed. And now the image is ok.

If is the motherboard... the really fix is not cheap... if is the cable i will buy another if this happen again.

Thanks to all for the help.
