ASUS EAX1950 Pro - ASUS has taken the ATI Radeon X1950 GPU and put their unique spin on the design. With better cooling and potentially better overclocking does the ASUS EAX1950 Pro have what it takes to compete under $199 with the competition?

One excellent benefit of the ASUS EAX1950 Pro is the price. It can be found online for only $164.99. This appealing price point makes this video card a great value. While the GeForce 7900 GS was slightly faster in a couple of games, that advantage did not translate into any visual gaming experience improvements. The ASUS EAX1950 Pro in fact provided a better experience in games like Oblivion, Battlefield 2142 and better visual quality in World of Warcraft. Overall we think the ASUS EAX1950 Pro is a better investment than the GeForce 7900 GS when it comes down to the real world gaming experience provided.

I just got one of these babies for folding and fragging... but when I placed it in my X-Qpack case, the heat-pipe cooler interfered with the fit of the power supply.

Just a heads-up for other SFF case owners.

Company of Heroes looks great on this card, except for a funny blending error with the edges of the fog-of-war. It could just be my version, as it happens on my other machine with an X1900GT as well. Maybe a patch or driver version will help.
 
i bought one for a budget build a month ago. i can't comment on the heat, but it sure was quiet. it played fear and oblivion pretty well, and it even ran rainbow six vegas at a pretty decent clip. i removed one of the slot covers to help it exhaust air out of the system, even though the manual didn't suggest doing so.
 
I bought one of these cards strictly for running Folding@Home. It gets about 750 PPD (~8 minutes per 1% of a Work Unit). Very impressed with its performance and its temperature (runs 24/7 at full load and stays at 68C) - it's also one of the best Folding@Home performance-per-watt GPUs - most likely because of the 80nm manufacturing process used on these GPUs (compared to 90nm for pretty much everything else on the market ATM). All-in-all, I'm very happy with this card! :cool:
 
So I've had this card for a week now, and it has been turning out 6:30 min~ frame while folding ... I haven't yet rebooted the system and when I did... poof! The card is dead!!
