I just installed this card and I went to the Asus site, downloaded the lastest driver rather than use the older one on the included CD. I don't see any sort of control panel for the card though. I'm not too informed on graphics cards, but I read some stuff about Catalyst; I can't exactly tell if it's a driver or a utility, but does it work on any supported model regardless of it's manufacturer (ASUS)? If so, does it support the 3870x2 and would it be recommended?

Edit: Figured I'd ask some other questions while I'm at it. I know ATI/nvidia develops video cards, but do they actually manufacture them or are they all sourced to these other companies, ASUS, XFX, BFG, etc? Not like I've been looking very hard, but I don't think I've seen an ATI/nvidia manufactured card.

I'd uninstall the driver you have now, and then grab the latest Catalyst driver set from atitechnologies.com. Should be 8.5.

Catalyst is the driver, Catalyst Control Center [CCC] is the utility you use to control all the functions. I have 2 asus x2 cards, and the new 8.5 drivers work perfect on them.

As for your other question, ATI/Nvidia develop the cards, but outsource the manufacturing to thier partners like BFG, Sapphire, Asus, etc. And msot fo the time, those companies take liberties with the reference design and add things like different coolers, more memory, etc.

Should I be using AutoTune under ATI Overdrive? Or don't mess with any of it if I don't know what I'm doing?

My auto-tune always freezes when I hit 860 on the core. So I leave my overclock at 855 core, 955 memory.
