hi, i'm experiencing a lot of desktop crashes and system restarts when i play graphics intensive games (i.e. invincible war, silent storm). the game would go fine for a while and then crash mysteriously. at first i though it was my virutal memory but i have it on system manage for the os directory and another 1024 on my scratch drive. the last crash gave me an unusual "overclocking failed" error, however i have not oced my system (amd64 3000, asus kv8 delux), so i guess its likely from the dynamically ocing cool and quiet which i installed prior but have disabled in the bios for a while. i remember you had to install some cpu drivers to enable cool and quiet but i dont remember what. does anyone have any suggestions.

also i'm using a sonata case with the dynamic fan controller, i read in the manual that might not be adequate for games but i know many people who run fine with it. anyway its a very busy time for me, i dont have time to reformat and to open my case and rewire crap so wondeing if anyone knows a quicker fix.

could it be the video card?

I'm not totally sure what cool and quiet is... what mobo are you using.

the closest thing I can think of that your talking about is ASUS q-fan, which I use and I think its fantastic.

/edit: check ASUS' website for drivers on your mobo, see if there is something you don't know about that they have there.

What video card are you using? It seems to be a video problem, so it would useful to let us know not only the type of video card, but the rest of your system specs.

i have a radeon 9800 pro, kv8 delux 2x512 ocz 3200 ram. 120 gig seagate hd. i ran a memtest and hdtest to make sure its not the ram or hd. i have the latest drivers / bios.

i think q fan dyanically adjusts the fan speed to keep things quiet

cool and quiet dynamically overclocks / underclocks the cpu to use less power and somehow keep things quiet as well.

also most of the time hwne the system restarts the error msg indicates soemthing wrong with a device signiture liek the driver signing stuff windows always warn about. i tried reinstalling drivers a few times but its still there. suggestions?
