I don't know how many other folk are as psyched about the C90S release as I'm. I pre-ordered one on Monday and got an email on Thursday that it might be out on June 18th with a 48 hour turn around. For those that haven't heard, the C90 series used desktop Core 2 Duo Conroe CPUs and will feature some kind of dynamic overclocking which is supoose to boost gaming preformence. The first series is being released as a Barebone Kit (w/ GPU Module, 8600M GT 512MB VRAM MXM 2.0). The desktop CPU costs about have that of the notebook CPU thus cutting the price.

Asus just posted the drivers on there website this week which is a big sign that its almost here!

Yeah I've been looking forward to these as I'll be needing a mobile for college come September. Looks very promising (considering I like building everything myself and don't really trust OEM's).

Where'd you buy yours?

Strange I only just now noticed no one was selling it with 4GB, I know Asus doesn't have 64bit drivers up on there site for it. Also wonder how Vista gaming preformence it going to be on this platform considering a full powered desktop CPU. I've had nothing but problems gaming on Vista based laptops.

problems because of driver support on the laptop or what? im really starting to look into this lappy for school in end of august and im wondering what kind of problems you happen to encounter.

This notebook is a nice concept, but IMO Nothing currently beats the new MBP's. LED screens, profile, preformence, 8600GT's, dual boot mac os and XP, and 4+ hours of battery life. Granted these are bit more future proof as far as gaming goes, but its ugly, horrible battery life, and will put out the heat. I don't understand why people what a "Notebook" like this that will mainly sit on there desk. Just build a desktop for 1/3rd the cost.

C90s looks rocking for people who don't need battery life!

I'm not too keen on the three fans poking out the back though, we'll see when people get their hands on one.

Me? I just bought an Asus G1s, should be here Fri-tag!

I can say this, I have multiple desktops in my house, yet I still tend to use the Notebook in my living room on my coffee table the most out of all of them. Also seeing that I use to have a nice comfy office job, I use to take my DTR to work to play my games that wouldn't play on my work PC. I have a 14" as well, but its just not worth taking around with me seeing that it doesn't have the power to play CS:S as my local coffee shop, but I do take it on planes with me because of the almost 9 hours battery life I get, so I can watch my favorite shows on a flight to say Germany with a little nap :p

I don't see what the big deal is, we all have our preferences in shape size and power and to me it isn't size that matters, but what you can do with it  Take that however you please! :D

Do you think the C90S comes with a driver disk if we should choose to buy the barebones kit from somewhere and then add our own CPU, graphics, ect?

Yes, the peolple I've been in contact with tells me it comes with a driver disc, the bare bone kit only comes with a drive disc and the MXM video card (already in) mainly because there is no reliable sorce for MXM video cards. I only know of one OEM dealer selling MXM cards.

To the poster above, no it does not take quad core, but people are talking about a bios mode.

Interesting concept but not exactly that great for the mobile people.

Bit big and heavy plus the battery life is not going to be the greatest with a desktop core in there.

Still a neat concept for those that want something like this though :)

i order mine 2 days ago =D on gentechpc.com

i love everything about this laptop, but i realize all the stuff about battery life, and also i realize the speakers are on the bottom of the laptops isnt that a major con? i really dont like them being on the bottom but i guess most of the time using this amazing laptop ill be using earphones when im sittin on the couch, but at a table ill use speakers.

Woot, its been shipped! Should get it by Monday. I had changed my order because of the delay:

C90S
E6700
3GB DDR2
160GB HDD 7200RPM
Build in Wireless N
8600GT 512MB

Still considering wether or not to put Vista or XP on in?!?

As in hands on, cool! I've been watching the video that the guy posted on asusforum.com

Why is it every time I have an important package coming to the house I have to work a split shift.... and why in the digital age cant FedEx say something more helpful than 7 am to 7 pm drop off time. You think they were taking notes from the cable guy's playbook....

PS: C90 at my door sometime today!

have you guys realized that the ones who've bought the C90 have really low end desktops? I haven't seen one single person here with a conroe desktop post that they're going to purchase that laptop. Makes me think, maybe they've got a point. Spending 1400 on a desktop replacement is pointless. :)

meh, I'll still treat it like a laptop and take it to work. My mai concern is that it won't fit in my backpack (which is looking more and more like a legit concern, alot longer).

yeah, it barely fits in the bag it comes with... but man is it awesome.

I am moving cross country in a few months and have to pack everything into a small car. It was obvious that the P180/C2D/8800/6 hard drives wernt going to make the trip. Enter a synology cube station and a c90... all of a sudden things become alittle more plausable.

All I have to say is nice! Its really hot here and no AC, my desktop warms my room up even more.

looks like we are the only two on the forum that got one. I have to say that the thing rocks my world. while some have gryped about the lackluster graphics, I haven't experienced any slowdown on the world in conflict beta. let me just say that those nukes take my breath away.
going from a 22 inch widescreen to the 15.4 at the same resolution is killer...

all I need now is word on the tv turner. apparently the chip is in there, we just need the external connector or whatever. short of the few threads on the notebook review forums I haven't seen any info on it...

ohh, and have you tried the overclocking stuff yet ranger ?

Nope, mine dosn't arrive till Monday after work. I'm really looking forward to it. Good to hear the highres on a 15.4" isn't too bad. I was going to lower the res to 1440x900, heard beyond the OC of the CPU and GPU I heard that was a huge boost in FPS.

Are you OCing in XP or Vista?
