Hey long time lurker, first thread. I bought a Asus X-series V9250/FX5200 card for my wife's rig. I wanted to run dual displays on it for her and found this card has a dvi-d plug (WTF ?). I went out last night to all the local places ( compusa, bestbuy, circuitcity ) and no one had ever heard of dvi-d, so I tried a couple of local computer places with the same results.

I called Asus's tech support and there rma numbers and got the run around. No one could give me a straight anwser. Dont you think that if they were going to use some off the wall config that they would send the adaptor to go with it ? I all so checked all the other cards from the place I bought it from and they all had the adaptor.

Anyone have any advice on where to pick one up ? I looked at cablestogo.com. I anit paying $15.00 for an adaptor that should come with the card.

I thought it was:

DVI-D = Pure digital, no analog capability (popular with TVs)
DVI-I = Supports both digital and analog signals due to extra pins (popular with PCs)

DVI-I cables can be used in DVI-D jacks but not vise versa.

Other way around- a DVI-I jack has the signals for both analog and digital, a digital CABLE AND PLUG disregards the analog information by not using the extra pins (four, IIRC- the ones around the + sign)

This would go well in the FS/FT section. I'll save you the trouble though- I have plenty. I'll send one your way for the cost of shipping from Jersey, a padded envelope, and a Heatware eval. LMK if you're interested, I'll PM you my PayPal addy.

Oh, and that is DVI-I as I said. 99% of cards have interlaced, 99% of monitors have digital.
