Hi all,

I have overclocked a few cpus and i have overclocked 3 of the cpu,s on a asus board and there is a question that occured to me whilst doing this and that is why?, when i am overclocking a venice 3200 that i am well in the green sector 7/20 segments in ASUS AI booster and i cant get further 2699mhz and i hit a wall ? Why cant i get near the red sectors which are at about 16/20 + ?

Whist using the same program i overclocked a Pentium D 930 and i overclocked it to 4150mhz and i was touching the red at about 16/20.
.
If there are people who have used this program and that can help me understand then please do so.

I am well in the green with the 3200+ and i cant move further past 2699mhz.

Thank you for reading this and have a nice day :)

Honestly... use the BIOS to overclock. I know it's more difficult, but you don't need to fool around with programs that, IMO, havn't worked for me before.

It doesn't really matter if its in the red or not. ai booster isn't very hard to overclock with. I prefer bios, but ai booster works just as well.

i beleave that the "red sector" is just calculated on %. asus beleaves that if you are aproaching an over clock of more than say 60% of the base frequnzy of your cpu taht it is dangerous. i dont think that the program actually knows where the limit of the cpu is. like if i had 2 cpus and i put inthat i know runs stable at 6. and then wsitch it for one that i know is only stbale @2.5. i think the program would say both procs have the same green and red zones because both cpu's are set to run 2.00

hope taht made snese

The % makes sense , also i have done them from the bios but i get a better overclock with the Pentium D but the funny thing is that with the venice 3200 i had to PC 4000 OCZ Gold whilst the D i only used some cheap 667mhz ram
