I've got my system all setup, going to install Windows XP. I'm able to format the drive, do the first stage of install.. but after it reboots I get "Error loading operating system".

I've tried doing multiple partitions, one partition, low level NTFS format, etc.. This is just one IDE HDD.

Also, it's setting my DVD drive to run as ATA-33. I find that strange...

Any help? (

** EDIT ** I just set the access mode to 'Large' and trying to install with that now. It was set to 'Auto' and detected the HDD as CHS.

Setting the access mode to "Large" seemed to do the trick.

I'm still confused as to why the DVD drive would only be running at ATA-33 though.

That's the fastest it'll need to go. 1x for a dvd means 1500 KB/s (more or less), so even 16x is only 24 MB/s. Thus, you need only ata-33 for the full possible transfer rate.

That makes sense.. I never really thought of it that way.
