for some reason when i install the audio drivers the audio still does not work. i got the drivers from asus website. called realtek drivers. it does not look like it installs the drivers just a stupid application called avRack. anyone know what is the problem or where i can get the proper drivers?

amd xp 2000+ win 98 SE

thanks

Assuming you got the right drivers from ASUS' site (these ones, v3.45 ), then yeah, something's funny... You did restart after installing them, correct? And you do have onboard audio enabled in the BIOS settings, correct?

You may want to try these drivers (v3.94) from Realtek's download site. If those don't work, perhaps try a BIOS update, or purchase a cheap PCI sound card.

Good luck.

thanks! yeah those were the drivers i used.

I ended up going to nvidia's site and downloaded the nforce2 chipset drivers and that installed everything, including the sound. i was about to do a bios update but i guess the floppy in this computer is dead. but turns out the update was not necessary. :)

thank you for your help!
