ASUS 9800XT Waterblock?

Does anyone out there have a waterblock installed on their ASUS 9800XT? I went to install a Maze 4 Tec block on one yesterday and discovered to my amazement that there weren't any mounting holes through the board! The stock HSF is nice but not exactly up to TEC Watercooling! I don't really want to AS Epoxy a water block to the GPU core on my $500 card!

Heh, sorry to go off topic here right off the bat but.........

Just one more reason to by the BBA card folks. ;)

Hope you find some help, I've never seen any blocks on an Asus card (maybe for a good reason ;) ) and I'm not really aware of any others that would mount differently/properly for you.....beyond using epoxy.

What the hell kind of an attitude is that???

You've got a bit to learn around here if you thought you could go around spouting stuff like that and not get questioned.

I'm sorry but I just don't understand a lot of the new guys I've been seeing around here lately.

Yep, I have a DD Maze 4 on my Asus 9800XT over the stock copper plates. Temps are nice and cool under full load. With my room always ~22c, I have never exceeded 38c and that was before the AS5 fully baked in. Now I usually run ~35c or so per SmartDoctor when stress testing the card. Max clocks before artifacts set in are Core 463.5, mem 416.25 (832.5)

ehryk is your waterblock attached using the normal mounting holes on the asus? or have you attached the block to the stock copper plates and then the plates to the card? i have an asus too, and this look fun :)

Dude!!! I completely forgot about your Asus, you had just posted it up in the video card pics thread too. ;)

I still don't get how you're getting that kind of a crazy overclock out of an ASUS card of all the ones out there. Ah well. :)

arent the ASUS cards really kick ass anyway? Do you guys REALLY need to OC them?. I only overclock my card because well... its last generations model.:p

The 9800XT is a very nice card, I like mine anyways. The problem is that the Asus 9800XT has inferior stock cooling and the voltage to the core is actually a tad lower then the BBA card.....just so they could keep heat down with those two tiny fans.

Funny.....and not.

Not really the topic to poke fun at right now. I just wanna see how it clears up.

Yeah, I guess you're right. There's no sense in believing anything will materialize out of this for now anyways. Whatever.

Yep, I had to break off the 2 posts where the waterblocks bolts go through and thats it, mated right up no problems at all. By the way, I have screenies of my temps and SmartDoctor also shows the OC at the top of it.

Also, my 3Dmark score links are: 3D Mark 2003 3D Mark 2001

All the clocks are in there as well since they are recorded by 3D Mark.

Yeah, I didnt like them at all either. I dont know what the CFM is on those, but it really cant be much. I do like the copper plates though. I hope they are enough for a TEC. If not then the copper plates will probably have to come off and I will throw on some Zalman mini-flowers cut down to fit the ram.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, I am an MP in Germany and sometimes work is insane. I wouldnt have it any other way though ;)

Cool stuff, although I still find it amazing the clocks you have hit on your Asus card, considering what it is.

Good job again.

Ya know, I get that quite a bit. I am beginning to think I got a freek card then. Not complaining by any means at all though hehehehe

By the way... does anyone know what RAM is on this card or know where to find it asside from removing the copper?

I guess if all else fails, I could remove the plate when my Prommie arrives since I will have to pull everything anyway. Hmmm... how much does a dual head mod cost again? :D :p hehehe
