Im having freezing issues with my ultra big time. @ first I thought it was the heat, but it was still freezing @ stock clocks on my Enermax 550w psu. I have very good ventilation in my case and this sucker was reaching 85C @ 400mhz core. Then I bought a PCPOWER& cooling 510 PSU and same result. I tried 3 different sets of drivers and I even rigged the 510psu just for the card alone. I know there was issues with the first BIOS rev., but I run the latest rev .15. It last like 15min in CS and 2 min in D3 and 3dMark 2003. Am I missing something. I dont want to RMA the sucker cuz it will take a while to get another one.
My setup
Abit IC7-G
P4 3.4EE @ 220FSB (tried it on stock clocks also)
1 GIG PC4000 Kingston X
2 x 15K 27GB scsi cheetah on Adaptec 29160
Audigy2
Win Xp Sp1 and DX9.0B
PCpower and cooling 510 PSU

Lates bios ond drivers etc.

Could this be another case of the 2D and 3D clocks being out of sync? Use CoolBits or Rivatuner and check the clock frequencies...if they don't match, use manual clock setting to match the 2D to the 3D.

I played with CoolBits already. Had the clock in sync and out of sync and nadda.

Do you have fastwrites enabled? I seem to see that a lot when fixing 6800 problems.

And just for reference, does this system run with another vid card? Just so we know it's the vid card causing the problem.

I have fastwrites enabled. I might try it when I get home with them off. Fastwrites worked fine on my 9800PRO which the Ultra replaced. I had no problems with the 9800 pro @ 425core and 371mem.

I would suggest doing a fresh xp install (reformat) if you already haven't.

Problems as well with the 6800U

Generals locks up every time in less than one hour

CS locks up with I use scope and look thru smoke bomb or near smoke.

Doom3 is ok so far

Joint Ops I can see enemy through cement bunkers

Lots of lockups in games so I switched back to the X800 XT for now, I am also using the new 66.00 drivers

Ok with fastwrites disabled no change, but I solved my problem. Took the freakin card out put my 9800pro back in RMA'ed the 6800U and ordered the x800 XT from NEWEGG. Ill just wait and see if Newegg refunds the money or gives me another Asus 6800U. If they give me another 6800U Ill try that one and then decide which one (6800U or X800 Xt) I want and give the other to my little bro.

Im surprized asus cards have given you problems I personaly think asus makes the best mobos and manufactures the best video cards PERIOD never had a problem with any of my asus hardware
