Hey guys Usulley I can find some info on stuff im interested in. But i havnt found much said about the Cut down version 6800gt that asus has out. I'm just wondering if u can give me info and where it fits in compared with a normal 6800gt.

From what I remember, it's not even a GT. They have 12 pipes, 128mb memory and a 325MHz Clock speed. I could be wrong, I thought they mislabeled it. Especially when it was 325 ish on a lot of places I saw. People thought it was a steal of a deal for a GT, when it was in fact an overpriced Vanilla 6800. Lol. Do you have a link to the one you want?

forget the wannabe gt.. it's a ripoff.... get the gt for 400$ or a 6800nu for 249$ @ bestbuy..fry's.. or outpost...

I'm almost positive that "GT", as ASUS calls it, is just a 6800 with 16pipes enabled.

from what i've read (lots of forums and misc half-reviews) its just a normal 6800gt with 128mb ddr1. It has 350 clock and 16 pipes and gets like 10.5k in 3dmark03 stock, and they overclock well. If you can get it for only slightly more than a vanilla then i'd get it. More or less it's a 6800nu with unlocked everything and slightly higher clock.

nononon i have the exact model in my pc gamer magazine and it's a 12 pipline card which they prove asus lied about the 16 pipes but it's only 12..

You sure? they've got a normal 6800nu, a pseudo 6800gt a 256mb 6800nu and a 425mhz ultra. You sure it wasnt just the normal V9999TD your thinkin of? if not i might have to rethink ma purchase (im in aus and its the best/value if its 16 pipes). I read a weird German review of it and the dude (bable fish translated) said it had 16 pipes. If someone here HAS the card, can they get rivatuner and help us all out? :p

Im surprised that a well respected manufacturer company is doing this....Only one way to find out, either someone here in the forums has one or hard ocp has a test on it.

Well by doin a simple google search, it seems that Germans are really into this card. It DOES have 16 pipes, 350clock and 700mhz DDR1. The dude got it to like 425/850 and got 13000 on 3dmark03.

http://www.benchmark.pl/artykuly/recenzje/GeForce_6800/Asus_9999GT.html

Thats a benchmark of it, and a graph of the features compared to the others. Seems to perform roughly where you'd think, halfway between nu and gt cept on really memory taxing things where its only a little better than the nu. Pretty good card for the money if its only a little bit more than a nu. Anyway, if anyone actually has this card, post some benchmarks/rivatuner pics of the pipes plz.

Hey guys thx for the input. Almost as stumped as I was at the beginning but I learned a few things lol. I think this would be a nice card for hardocp to review since its like almost unknown in benchmarks, yet you can find it in alot of places. I dont know , I gonna wait after christmas so prices may go down and i might get some $$$ :D. But if i see this card hit 300$ or below ill probaly get it. I dont wanna spend much more on my pc, but I think getting a 6800gt will save me from building one next year, cuz I'll be happy with playing hl2 with nice frames and some decent AAAF filters.

EDIT: Heh, If i do get this card im ordering from newegg. It says 16pipes on the page so if i dont get the same card i think they should take it back and refund me $$. It seems to be a pretty nice card, hard to find any english reviews on it though :(

holy crap!! nvm guys i was wrong.... the v9999GT is da right card.. it really does hyave 16 pipes but slower memory.... on the other hand the v9999 "gamer edition" is hte one claiming 16 pipes but only has 12 pipes :) hahaha and it's the same price in the magazine..... 410$ and a GT kills it... damn what is up with the v9999 Gamer Edition.... stay away from it!!!! but go for the v9999GT despite it having 128mb ram.... it's between a real 6800gt and 6800nu... so 339 seems like a fair price.. and it has 16 pipes... .......but since ur waiting until christmas..... the real 6800gt will be coming doiwn in price.. and maybe you could grab one of those :) but the v9999gt is fine

alright thx for clearing the facts out. the cheaper the better i think. Can my system fully support a 6800gt. Like will there be any performance difference since ill be bottlenecking it

I just wanted to tell anyone interested that I bought the V9999GT, and I think it's quite good. I have done a full review of it here
It's a full 16pipe card, with 6vert shaders.
Enjoy the review.

Someone requested this pic earlier in the post..

Ta for the review and pic, it's what we were all waiting for :). Review was really clear and settled alot of questions surrounding ASUS' rather odd design decisions heh. Is the stock cooler very loud btw?

Asus currently has two cards on the market that are confusing. There's a 6800 GT with 128 megs of ram, sells for around 330. Its a full GT, pipelines and all, with just half the ram. Additionally, they have a 6800 Non-GT with 256 megs of ram and a webcam, that runs around 410. Essentially, they took a 6800, clocked it to a GT, threw in a webcam and put it in a huge box.

The 6800 GT with 128 megs of ram is one of the better deals going currently. :)

I have the card, but my new abit mobo does not work. It got a constent beeping noise and then it would shut down in about 5 seconds. So I sent it back to newegg for repairs. Once I get my comp up i'll post benchmarks w/the Asus 6800GT

Thanks for your kind words on the review, it's my first review. About the fan, yes it is noisy at full speed, and even at 75% of full. Its at 3300rpm right now and I can hear it over the other fans in my rig. It's very adjustable by the Asus Doctor software though. I have an NV5 on order and will post a review on it if anyone is interested. This way the ram will also be cooled. So far, no issues with this card on my Abit mobo. All is good. Gaming is nice at the higher resolutions. I would recommend this card to someone who wants a newer gpu but does not want to spend the $600-$700 canadian funds for the top end stuff, either from ATI or Nvidia. BTW, I am not a !!!!!!. I have had ATI cards for years. This is just what I wanted to try this time around... Maybe next year it'll be ATI.

Hey please post a picture and info when you get your NV5 as it the same card and cooler I'm looking to buy.

Yeah, no problem. I don't think the NV5 will give me the balls to up the oc yet, I'm still reeling from the initial outlay of cash. But it will look better than the stock cooler, and the built in ram sinks will protect the ram from those high summer ambients.

Are you sure the NV5 fits? i've heard alot about NV5 not fitting on asus 6800 cards cause theyre molex goes points to the side of the case :( , not to the drivebays. If your molex points to the drive bays you should be ok, but if not i'd read up about it before buyin. But if you already have ordered it, cant hurt in trying it eh?

I have also heard that the asus cards have a problem with the NV5 cooler because of the molex connector. But please let us know if you can install it.

And good luck with your new card. And on the OC topic if every game runs with good fps then there's no reason to OC it, yet.

Yeah, it's a problem alright. I got my shiny new NV5 home and realized that the molex would be a problem. I tried a 90degree molex, no go. I ended up soldering the four power wires onto four seperate female molex terminals at 90degrees, very short, adding heatshrink for protection. Then I put each wire into the power plug, and added a bit of hot glue(removable later). I then had the clearance. The ramsinks did not touch the ram on a dry fit, but the core touched ok. i used AS5 on the core, and the NV5 thermal crap on the ram, probably too much as the pics show. The third problem: ASUS uses some kind of propriatary 3pin tiny fan header. I chose not to use it. IThe NV5 power plug was much larger, as were the wires. I chopped off the NV5's fan plug and routed the wires to the back of the card. I soldered the power and gnd to the back side of the molex socket.
Overall, not a product for noObs with this video card. Otherwise I am pleased. So far temps as I type this are 42/41C. Asus doctor says 0RPM, and does not give a shit.
I may oc the card later, but I'm happy with my 400/800 for now and the fact that the ram is cooled and the rig looks mint!

think its worth going from 9800xt to one of these?
all i really play is cs:source bf1942 and hl2

Sorry 4 being so late and all, but i've been watching this thread for some time now and have to say some words. Just registered.

I got Asus 6800'GT', the one up in image. Stock cooling is nice and silent, temps are core/ram @ 47C/44C idle. I manualy reduced gpu fan to 2860rpm, and its unhearable. I also got 2TT fans and Volcano9+ (2800rpm), who are silent too. All I hear in my computer are stupid loud hdd's.

Oh, and btw, i have core/ram 390/922MHz on stock! :) I will post some pix later on, and give ORB url also.

Im planing to do a vmod. My goal is 1000MHz RAM. I hope 4 even more. But not with stock. I was planing to buy NV5Silencer, but now i see pix from LanPirate1. Not good. Maybe ill do same modifications :)

Btw LanPirate, nice mod!

Cheers //

Well, here are the pix.

I dont have any other picture from my GPU, but its visible I dont have it modified yet.

Thanks.
BTW, I need a screen shot of the ram at 922. Your Asus doctor only shows 800mem, 390 core.

So far at 400/800 I have not had problems in any games except Doom3. Just last night I had what could best be described as a cluster fuck. The game turned into a bunch of verticle bands of purple and black. I was hard-locked, had to reset. But was it the gpu, or a cpu voltage issue? Temps were great, with the NV5, never went over 50C. My Hammer isnt really working at all at 10X240htt, with an XP120 on it. I think I saw 48C one time, that was in the summer.
I heard D3 didnt like ocing on the vid card side of things though. Other than that, I am still having fun with this card.

Check the upper right corner of SmartDoctor. There are real clocks. But, if that's not 2 much convincing, see this.

CoreRamclocks.jpg

About the D3, yeah you heard right. Game is tottaly anti-clocked GPU. I had such problems on my last R9800, when it was clocked.
Wicked thing is, that I have no problems on this one though. Well, the truth is, I have to play D3 on 375/875. On 390/922, little artifacts show here and there. I didnt check temps though.

Btw, you happen to know any other cooling solution 4 my gpu, except NV5Silencer? I really want to have RAMs cooled, but it will be difficult with stock, cos:

1.) 2 of the RAMs are under stupid fan qler.
2.) 2 of them are @ cooling exhaust, so placing these..
revbgafrezzerc1_v.jpg

.. is out of the question. Who knows, how good are these revoltec bga qlers anywayz.

Bump.

Here is my 3DMark03 ORB link.
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=3301017

The OC gave me a little less than 1k boost. Imo, its kinda low, but my CPU sux, doesnt take full advantage of GPU, and my RAM aint #1 too. And yeah, drivers are worst of em all. 62.11. Looked @ some driver tests, 62.11 were last in BenchMark performance.
Btw, whats more important, a memory clock or core clock on geforces and 4 3DMark 03, 05?

Well, I've made my decision. I will put NV5Silencer on my GPU. Yes yes, modifications will come. I wont make same as you LanPirate, though. Will start on project in early december, when I buy Silencer (atm im broke). I will post pix then.
