ASPIRE 500W Case

You should really look for a better power supply. Ones bundled with cases typically aren't very good, though Antecs are the exception.

I didn't want to get an Antec, I want cooler looking power supplies. Like Fortron 500 or MGE 500w blue sleeves, whichever you will recommend for a Lian-li PC-65 Black Aluminum case.

Actually - that one is a very good PSU for the $$. I have one in my xp2600 OC to 2200mhz, with 5x hard drives, 2x DVD drives, and a 6800GT! That machine runs solid!! actually, it's the one I am on now... lol. I only post the stats to my gaming rig in my sig... Anyways - that's a great case also. I have my gaming rig in that case and am very happy with it. three removable drive bays, 120mm side fan, blow hole, BIG window... nice case. I would not spend any more $$ on a new PSU because I think the Aspire 500watter will be fine. That's the nicest PSU for the $$ out there I think. :)

I have heard very bad things about aspire, such as extremely weak 12v rails etc. If you want looks I would go with OCZ or a fortron blue storm

i ran that psu for 1.5yrs and had absolutely no problems.

it was pushing about 10 80mm fans, 2 hdd's, oc'ed XP2500+, oc'ed video card, blah blah etc etc.....
no probs.

MGE produces really bad PSUs. Their models are rebrands of all sorts of other manufacturers. This Aspire in question has an acrylic top... there is a reason why all good PSUs have boring steel covers. Acrylic does a bad job at keeping EMI from passing through, which could wreak havoc on the rest of your components. I believe the one in question is also a Young-Year rebadge, the same company that produces the Ultra X-Connect. That PSU doesn't get good reviews here.

If you want bling-bling, get the OCZ Modstream (preferably the 450W).

When I built my rig in August '04, I bought a X-Super Alien and used the 500w PSU that came with it (this one) and the PSU crapped out on me before I even turned it on. I would highly recommend getting a PSU that is recommended from this thread. It simply is not worth the time and money to risk using a bad PSU. Antec, Enermax, Forton, Sparkle, and others are usually very high quality compared to others.
