Putting AS5 or any kind of thermal compound on the ram chips (and GPU core) of the 6800GT is a must when installing the NV silencer 5 rite?

Let me rephrase that for you:

Putting AS5 or any kind of thermal compound on the ram chips and GPU core of a video card is a must when installing any heatsink.

And it's "right" not "rite".

hahaha...sorry about the word "rite"...to much slang..

Jesus, what a rude person, he was just asking a simple question and you have to be a dick about it.

His intent was probably not to come off as rude. Some people are not very tolerant for mispelled words :p.

well back to the question, as5 is not a necessity but some type of thermal paste is (for reasonable temps). as5 would probably be your best bet for the lowest temperatues though. a tube of some type of thermal paste is included with the nv5 in case you don't have any, which should work fine.

I would recommend AS Ceramique, as it isnt electriclly conductive and performs on par with AS3.
