im just about to build my new rig(when psu, sleaving, and vid card shows up tomorow) and im wondering, should i install my as5 the whay its mentioned on their web site(a dab and press w/ the hsf, forming a circle that covers the center of the IHS[http://www.arcticsilver.com/images/p4_as_dab2a.jpg]), or the whay that zalman says(dab, then spread across w/ a credit card or somthing). im wondering b/c i would think that covering the entire ihs w/ as5 would provide better performance than just the area around the core, but since AS probably knows more about there product than zalman does... iknow they say it removes bubles, but thats from the twisting right? and i can do that w/ all the IHS covered right?

also, would i see ANY performance increas if i tinted my 7000 alcu?

You'd think more would be better right? Well, it's not. Just use a little dab on the heat sink, spread it around real good, wipe it off. Put a little dab on the processor (about the size of a grain of rice (uncooked), and use a straight razor (or credit card) and spread it thinly on the processor. About as thick as a sheet of paper. Try to make it nice and even. Smooth as possible. Then, CAREFULLY, apply the heatsink. Try to put the frist clip on, then hold the heatsink above the processor with one hand, and place the other clip on with a screwdriver with the other. When you have tension on the screwdriver side, try to get the heatsink to squarely make contact with the processor as you clip it down. Don't let it move around on the core at all.

Hope this helps.

i know that more compond is worse, but i was wondering about the instalation process(drop and install, or drop and spread). so you think i should go w/ the spread??

ps. is 91% isopropyl good enogh to clean the proc/hsf, or do i need 99?

I used 70% :D
And canned air. Besides the 70% alcohol the rest is just water, so a few short bursts and let it dry, and it'll be fine.
