Recently put together a new system for my father.

2500+
NF7-M
512mb Kingston ddr 333
80 gig maxtor 8mb cache

When I'm using it on the desktop - no intense 3d gaming for this sucker - it gives me small artifacts. They are not like artifacts that stay on the screen but they are quick little tears that come and go. It's like a blue speck is there for a second and then it's gone again. My first instinct says not enough cooling on one of the bridges. Any ideas?

sounds like hot v-ram to me.... but i have never seen this on the desktop... what vid card are you running? hmmm... now that i think about it i remeber have a similer problem with and older compaq that was solved by cleaning the contacts on the videocard... try yanking the card and going over them with an erasor, be carefull thow the layer of gold that is on there is very thin and once it is removed the contacts oxidise very quickly.

thore

In a 2d environment if your getting tearing/artifacts this is probably a RAM issue. Since it's onboard it's using your system's RAM, so maybe run memtest86 for a while.
