Artifacts Question

Hey, I was just wondering if artifacts can occur before installing drivers. I'm saying this because I'm just about to purchase a used video card from someone locally but have no way of confirming that it will work great. Hence, we have both decided that it would be fair if I took my computer and hooked the video card into it and give it a test boot to insure that the video card is indeed working as stated. Please give me inputs on how I should "test" this video card out. Thanks.

If he's going to let you install it, you may as well just install the drivers too. Maybe just install 3D Mark 2001 or 2003 so that you can run a test run to make sure everythings ok.

Let's say that the video card was to be damaged. Would I be able to know that it is after 1 run?

bake that sucker in for a fews hours at least. running 3dmark or something in a loop. that way you can be sure the card will work.
