As the title says, I have recently started getting "artifacts" on my desktop. Yes, thats right, on still images. At first I thought that it was dead pixels all of a sudden, but then I realized that they come and go. You can actually watch them moving. And we're not talking about 3 or 4, or even 10. If I had to guestimate, I would say there are about 50 or more. I thought I had it fixed, but it just started again. I have the 4-pin molex plug on my mobo for extra power to the PCI-E slots. A few people said that it wasn't even necassary, so I tried unplugging it, and it worked fine, but then the artifacts started. So I plugged it back in, and now they have returned. Also, when they show up, if I turn off the monitor and turn it back on, they are gone. For the record, as we speak my rig is sitting on an empty box on my desk, while I perform some minor mods on my Antec 900. But everything is hooked up correctly, with no shorts or anything to worry about. It has been running fine for about a week this way. So unless there is something about running your system this way that can cause this problem, its not that. Temps are not an issue, my video cards are idling at 45C. My hardware is in sig, but for those who don't look, 2 x 7600 GTs in SLI, Sceptre 22in widescreen LCD, Mushkin 580w PSU, and the rest should not be affecting the display, but its in the sig. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Any clue what could be going on?
