When gaming the smoke flashes occasionaly as video shows, also in games like Lost Planet 2 there are alot of flashing unlike HL2 where the flashing is less.

My cards are in crossfire and I suspect maybe the problem is because of temperature(?) as the problem does not arrive until a bit of gaming.

however my cards temps are CORE: 61c, 75c, VRM: 69c, 75c.

I just realized the asus 5850 directcu that I bought used has 1.168v load voltage, which is wierd because the normal load should be 1.087v I guess the former user flashed bios(?)
 
Probably the previous owner was overclocking it pretty hard to require that much voltage. Try checking the TPU bios database for a stock bios for that particular card and compare them.
While you're at it, better make sure you identify which model of ASUS 5850 you have. I see 5 different stock ASUS bios on the TPU database. The directcu non overclocked one is 1.118V at stock as opposed to other vanilla 5850s that are at 1.088V.
