I recently had to purchase a new video card only because I blew my 9700pro "all my fault" can I RMA it? (Ha-ha JOKE) I used W1zzards overclocking tool "Thanks W1zzard" and I ended up with a core overclock of around 430-435. Then I found this program

http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/

I ended up with instant artifacts; I ended up clocking down to 410-415. To my question:

1. Does anyone use this program to test for artifacts?
2. How reliable do you think this program is because I don’t hear folks talking about it?
2. If you do, did you get the same results as I did?
3. Why do you think I only artifact in this program at 430 core?

TIA

i've used wizzards tool and it sets my 9500np at 430something and my ram at around 325 and i know for a fact that my card wont run stable at anything higher than 400/300 so it can be wrong sometimes yes. But its good to give you and idea of what you can do

Im interested in this also, I actually get a strange sort of artifacting at default speed on my 9800Pro using this program. Everything else runs fine at the overclock in my sig, even 3dmark03 test 4, which always showed sparklies first when overclocked too high on the GPU.

It's the same thing as people arguing about 'only' seeing problems when running prime95/memtest86; if your hardware doesn't perform perfectly under all conditions, it's not 100% stable.

period.

Now, this may be something you can live with, and it might never effect you in day-to-day usage, but you don't have a 100% stable system.

I firmly believe this, at least with Prime, but this program is a different story. I thought my 9800XT was jacked cause I was getting artifacts in this program no matter what I clocked the card at if AA and AF were set to 6x and 16x. I was ready to buy another card, til I tried my buddies new 9800 Pro and got the same thing straight out of the box. Turn up your AA & AF, then use model two in the test. It seems to always show artifacts, no matter what.

I believe this demo is a valid test for artifacts.

The proof is that when I decrease the speed, the artifacts go away.

The artifacts I'm seeing are flashing white dots that move around.
