ok so I bought a artic cooling liquid freezer 120 for my I7 3770k. I had air cooling prior and in bios would show about 45c for the cpu. in Windows cores would go over 100c when full prime 95 which is why I decided to put on new thermal compound and a new cooler.

so I swapped everything out and put the new gelid thermal compound on the cpu then attached the water cooler put everything back powered up pc went straight into bios expecting to see lower than 46 but instead was greeted with 88c and it was climbing about. 5 degrees every second or 2. I powerd down tightened screws with a screw driver instead of just thumb tight and still same results. took it off reapplied paste and used a lot more this time since last time I went light thinking might help but still no go.

fan spins on the radiator but how do I know if the radiator pump is pumping?

is this a sign of a bad pump? radiator is never hot to the touch.

would the pump not working cause Temps to go that high right as soon as you start the pc? or does that sound more like it's not making good Co tact or something?

any help would be awesome

ok i let it work it's way up to 99c then shut pc off and pulled it off within 60 seconds. copper touching cpu was warm to touch. the tubes about 1 inch down were warm. the rest of tubes and radiator where cold to the touch like ice cold

I bought a new one, and will be returning the original. Ill update once new one is installed and see if it resolves my issue, I guess, if it does, it does mean the pump was bad.

yeah it sounds like the pump isn't working. you can test the aio outside of the system before installing to check that the pump is working. you should be able to hear and feel if the pump is working.

edit: also make sure that whatever header you have it on is set to full blast. so disable any "smart fan" options in the bios.
