200 bucks, 2 9600GSO, 1100ppd each, hello trash can. So anyhow, go ahead and mow cause thats the last money I put into this. Happy folding

Bought 2 of the 9600GSO from Tiger to help ramp up some. Sure did not expect to only get 1100 ppd though. Just burns my buttocks. Heck, the 8600 I took out was doing 1772 ppd, lmao. Its only a one card system so can't blame mixing gpu's
 
1100 ppd isn't right. I have 2 that I just got running today and at stock speeds they are doing around 3800 ppd each.

Would you care to give us some details on your configuration?
 
No way to tell what 6( ) they are E145-9624 at tiger direct 99 with 50 rebate. The rig is a 478 socket 3.4 P4, but like I said, the 8600gt I took out was near 1800ppd. Along with this headache, I have an evga 680i-sli board that has 2 empty pci-e slots because no matter what I do, I simply can NOT get any card to fold in conjunction with the 260. Been there done that. I have 2 other rigs running multiple gpu's so I know how to set it up. Just cant get a card to get to even 1% on that board. WTB a few m80's, snicker.
 
If it is the crippled 9600 cards I'm going to be super pissed at Tiger for not listing the shader counts. :mad:

Please download GPU-z and tell us how many shaders there are.

OH the pipeline is 96 and 550 clock. on the gso
 
No, item # E145-9624 says 96 so that's not it.
 
I only have one working atm, think I will swap the one on the board with the 260 in it and see what happens. Especially since it wont fold on this board, lol. Will report the results. I was only assuming the would both give similar ppd. Brb
 
I've got an Asus A8N-Deluxe with 2 8x PCIex slots. Both my 8800 GTS 640meg cards fold at 5000PPD. That's about what you should get. My mom's 9600 GSO is doing 5000PPD and my Grandpa's as well. So something somewhere is wrong. I hope we can help you figure it out. It can be annoying at times, but don't give up!
 
I bought 2 XFX 8800GS 384meg cards, and both of them put out 5100PPD after overclocking. I hope we can figure your problem out. A possibility is if you have anything else running on the computer that is taking away processing time from the GPU folding. I had that problem with a Linux VM.
 
I'll give you an 8800GS that I can't get to fold for one of those. 1100PPD sounds better than nonstop EUE's. You might even have better luck with the 8800GS. :D
 
Just a quick note. I swapped out the GSO and only updated driver from 178.13 to the lasted and went up to 3800 ppd. So will keep plinking and get back with you all. Tnx for the concern. btw these are evga cards
 
are you running any other distributing programs besides the 2 gpu clients? also another trick you could do.. is in the config set 1 of the clients to use a higher priority to see if they are conflicting with eachother.. i had to do this to get my gpu client to work correctly with the WCG client.. it would show my gpu at 2-3k PPD when i usually avg. 6100+.. once i did that.. problem went away.. just an idea..
 
In response to the wcg question, no I turn all that off when I saw the abysmal ppd, lol. As it stands, I am getting 4k ppd on the socket 478 (only one pci-3 of course) and almost 3k ppd on the p6n Diamond with 3 8800 GTS's, clearly the mixing hurts, lol. Anyhow will shop for a non EVGA sli board to I can put the proper mixes in their place.
Now is I only knew the problem with this EVGA mb. I hate to take out the 260 just so I can put 3 of something in it. Tnx all.
 
Hmm...., among my other 24/7 GPU2 folders I have a E6600 (stock 2.4 Ghz, a Frys special ECS GF7100PVT-M3 mobo, 1 Ghz PC6400 RAM). The afore mentioned boxen has a eVGA 9600GSO (348MB, "dual slot") GPU card. Said card has the shaders OC'ed to 1601 and the cooling fan set manually to 80%. It gets about 4400 PpD and it runs very cool (about 47c core with a 22c ambient) Yeah, I know I could get more PpD, but I'm happy with it the way it is. I've included the pics below for verification. :D

I really don't understand why you're only getting 1100 PpD, my eVGA 8800GS gets about the same PpD as the 9600GSO, it just runs hotter (single slot) ( about 54c, ambient 22c) Maybe you got the crippled cards that brother nomad8u warned us about in a previous
post :(

is the mobo a 750i?

I have 2x GTX 260's and no matter what I do, the first one does 7k ppd and the 2nd ones does 4k ppd. I've tried to diff mobo's same result.

I just gave up and took the 4k on the 2nd card. I wonder if it is the same thing wit you?

 
I wish the problem was getting less points on one card. But, the 680i with the one 260 will not let me fold with a second card period.
 
Just to second the numbers, I have two 9600GSO cards, one dual slot & one single - at stock they give about 3800ppd each, and at my current SP OC of 1745, they averaging 4800ppd...

Just a thought, before chucking the cards in the can, try offering them up on the trading forum - someone might be willing to kick down a few bucks or a good card for you in a swap!

Is the 680i even recognizing the card? My 650i gave me plenty of trouble, until I got the sli card on the mobo flipped, and realized that if I had a slower card in the first slot (8600gt), the faster card in the second slot only ran the same number of SP's as the slower card...
