Just curious to those who have played it, is it a good game compared to MW2? Is it fun to play with friends or better online experience? Also would you recommend it over Left 4 dead 2 or forza 3? this is for the x360 also
i bought it the other day. me and a buddy of mine played through the first one co-op. it was fun. i haven't played mine yet cause im trying tto get through bayonetta first. but im sure l4d2 is better and i know forza 3 is better, that game is amazing. ill crack it open tonight and let you know what i think
Well I plan on picking up one of these games this afternoon and it looks like I will try l4d2. Unless cougar you would suggest otherwise, thanks for the replies and any other input is welcomed!!
I have Army of Two: 40th Day. It's awesome. I'd pick that over a racing game, since racing games go stall to me after a while. l4d2 is definitely better, but I would say to keep that one for PC. For a game like l4d2, you just control it that much better with mouse/kb.
l4d2 is only fun if you have friends to play it with. some people online can be jerks if you don't play the way they want you to. when i had the game for 360 there just always seemed to be a lag on all the servers, wasn't my connection. but i heard that and read that from a lot of people but i would not buy either of these games before forza 3. that game is simply amazing because you can make it super arcady and help you do everything or you can go will all the asists off and everything.
Purchased the first one a week ago and returned it yesterday. Couldn't get passed the horrible aiming and missions with no "checkpoints". For instance, If I just wanted to get one hidden briefcase, I had to play though 1/5 of the game. Kinda annoying. Playing with a friend was fun, but not exciting enough. And on professional it was stupid difficult. Much, much, much harder than MW2 on Veteran. It had some appealing qualities IMO, but the aiming and limited replay ability made me return it in the end.
I like the idea of it, but they have absolutely screwed it up by keeping the sloppy, slow, and generally unresponsive controls from the first games multiplayer and seemingly made it worse by bringing the camera in closer for the over the shoulder view. They also kept the "A" button does everything control scheme which is an annoyance and a bad design decision held over from the first one.
There is virtually 0 customization aside from the downloadable and user-created masks available at www.armyoftwo.com. The weapon customization model from the single player campaign is painfully absent in multiplayer.
They improved the feel of the controls in the single player mode, which are still far from perfect, but better than the first game. For some reason they did not transfer those over to multiplayer.
It holds no candle to MW2 as far as longevity in the multiplayer is concerned. I have not gotten to play extraction yet, but I hear that it's a good time. I bought it because I have a few friends who I'll be playing through the co-op with and thats the main thing I found enjoyable about the first one.
I'd say no more than an hour of MP with lag, people dropping out causing lopsiding of the teams, and shotgun rape should be enough to make up anybodies mind on the multiplayer portion of the game. The game also does no balancing of teams if someone drops, so if your partner drops, until somebody pops in, it's you against the world.
I was very hopeful that it would give me something to enjoy while I wait for CODMW2 to get patched, but alas, no dice.
Don't make any "Dick" masks on the mask designer tool either, they'll ban your EA account.
I played both the first and second games cooperatively with my brother and have a good idea of how the coop is.
The story sucks. There are like 4-6 noticeable characters in the whole freaking game, and you won't know what the hell is going during the whole playthrough, so just enjoy shooting the hell out of guys.
The coop mechanics are greatly improved from the first game. Coop riot shield (one guy holds the shield with a pistol, the other guy is behind with any gun) is my favorite part in the whole game. In the first game, you would frequently break the link connecting the you and your partner, which got really frustrating. In this sequel they made it so you are always behind your buddy and you never break the link between each other involuntarily, so using the riot shield is alot of fun. There will be situations where you have can kill enemies to save hostages, and it was always funny arguing with my brother on what the best way to save them is.
Now there are two terrible things in this game that really pissed me off. Unskippable cutscenes and unfair checkpoints. We tried to save every hostage in our playthrough, which meant reloading the game a crapload, and we had to had to watch every cutscene get repeated which really was incredibly lame. And god the checkpoints! I'll give you an example: We just finished the hardest part in the whole game that included 3 guys manning mounted turrets and 3-5 guys with RPGs constantly firing at us, and after we killed them we leave the area to be greeted with a squad busting through a wall just a few yards away that included a guy with a minigun away which immediately killed us. Of course, we find out the checkpoint occurs after we kill the squad that busts through the wall. Expect to see alot of checkpoints like these that blindside you. My advice is, never let your guard down until you see that checkpoint icon flash.
For a coop game, I'd give it an 8.5. I enjoyed the game alot with my brother, but preferred the first game to the sequel. If you haven't played the the first one, I'd recommend it.
