I'm a happy owner of the Thermaltake Armor+ case (details) but the side fan LEDs are searchlight bright and I'd like to convert the case over to UV lighting at some point anyway (I've already purchased the light kits).

I thought that the easiest thing to do would be to replace that fan, but apparently it's a 23cm fan, which is a nonstandard size. I've never done any window modding before, so I don't want to crack the panel up by reshaping the hole for a standard fan. I've also never done any DIY case wiring, so I'm a bit nervous about replacing the LEDs in the old fan directly.

Anyone want to advise a course of action? I'm considering just painting over those LEDs and calling it a day, but I might not be able to get to them without smearing paint all over the fan housing--which is clear, of course. I've also looked at replacing the whole window with one with a larger fan hole for a more standard-size large fan, but Thermaltake windows are hard to come by apparently.

If the wires to the LEDs are separate to the fan, try cutting the wires to the LEDs?

Not really familiar with the case.

Actually, I think that side fan might be replaceable with a 25cm fan. I'm looking online and getting conflicting sizings for it--the product data page says it's 23cm, but I've found reviews and product listings listing the side fan as 24 and 25cm. People are also reporting that they are replacing an Armor case's side fan with 25cm fans (no pictures, but I can only assume they are talking about the Armor+ since the other Armor lines don't seem to have large side fans.)

I'll probably measure that side window and fan and get to the bottom of it. I'll post back when I do in case anyone might have this case and get confused by all the different references to this fan.

I can confirm that the hole does in fact fit a 25cm/250mm fan. Now if only I could find a replacement with UV LEDS in it...

I just cut the wires on the LED's and *wahla* there is no light :D. I also flipped it so its an exhaust.
