argh help me.... 9800 pro power cable error

my sapphire 9800 pro has been getting power errors a lot lately. I know the cable is plugged in and working, but sometimes it goes off and my comp wont start. Now it wont start period, i get the same error, no matter what i do to the card/power cable. Could this be a bad card? im really pissed, im on a radeon 7000 for now, so no games :( if i want to rma it, would i go through sapphire or ati?

I was having this problem also. It turned out I had too much drawing power from my psu. I have a quality 430w Enermax but 2hd's, 2 cdroms, usb printer, usb scanner, and all the fans in my computer were too much for it. One hd died and I got rid of a couple fans and pulled a cdrom (which I'm going to put back soon and hope it's not too much) and it works fine.
 
when i get around to it ill try another one, but i highly doubt that its the psu because everything works, and ive tried it on about every single plug that comes out of it to the same result. also, its always been fine in the past, with this exact same setup.
 
Have you tried disconnecting other stuff from the psu and/or disabling overclock and seeing if it helps?
 
Before you RMA the card
1. Use only the cord that came with it
2. Make sure it is the only thing on that molex connection
3. get a small screwdriver, and go inside the female end of the molex that connects the 9800, close the gaps in each connector by prying gently with the screwdiver. When plugging it into the card, push it straight on, try not to wiggle it side to side. Do the same thing to the psu connection.

I've had issues with 1 and 3, but once I fixed it, it hasn't happened again. If not, rma it.
