arg help. hdd crash. data lost???

Okay here's the story i will try to be brief. but i have a tendancyt o ramble. please ask for any more needed into.

I have a 300gb hdd. I created an 80gb boot partition. installad windows XP Pro sp3.
this worked well for me.
The rest was used for a storage drive.

some Time again I use Truecrypt on the 80gb partition. I am not sure if this encrypting is what broke it or not.
the pc locke dup rebooted and came back as no bootable partition found.

Regardless I was able to bood the truecrypt disk and decrypt the drive.

I was able tog et windows server booted on a second hdd

Now I am unable osee squat on that 300 gig. it comes up on the manager as an unfomarted 300gb.

I need help recovering files off this. can anyone think of steps i can try to get into the files?
linux live cd maybe?

try running a recovery utility against the drive. SpinRite works great for me.

getdataback for ntfs got me my data back

but i'd still like to get the drive bootable. but im liiking WHS so maybe not.
